"EXTRA EXTRA 'SEED' ALL ABOUT IT"
Extra activities to complete to help you with your spelling words, and also have some fun!
These activities are on the cards in your classroom, if you need a fast finishing activity you can use these, just check with Mrs Weston, Mr Mogan or Mr K.
Newsy Words
Use old magazines, cataloogues or newspapers to cut out letters. Glue the letters down on a piece of paper to spell your words. (Cut out lots of extra letters and save them for next time!)
Words Within Words
Write each spelling word and then write at least two words made from some of the same letters. Example- Slide = side, lie, lid, led etc.
Rainbow Write
First, Write out each word in pencil. Then, Trace over each word 3 times. Each time you trace, use a different colour pencil.
Silly Sentences
Write silly sentences using a spelling word in each sentence. Please underline your spelling words! Write neatly! Example: My dog wears a blue and purple dress when he takes a bath.
Spelling Flowers
Draw a big flower. Write each of your spelling words on one of the petals or on a leaf. You may have to draw more than one flower to fit all your words!

Take a photo using a digital camera, (or ask Mum or Dad to take the photo on
their phone) that you can use to distinguish between two or more homophones for
example Through and Threw, Witch and Which, There, Their and They're, hear and
here, wear and where, meet and meat, read and red. Bring those picture files
into class on a USB stick and we will edit them to demonstrate the differences.
once we have a variety of these images from the class we will put together a
Homophone Show, using the images on the macbooks and editing them with special
effects from iMovie, we will create our very own Homophone flipchart

Wordle Fun
After you have created your Wordle in class, try using your remaining spelling words or other words you can think of that fit this weeks rule to create a new wordle.
Wordle's are a 'word cloud' combining information in a creative and visually appealing way. If you are using an iPad, take a screen shot of your wordle and use photoshop or paint to add the rule. If not, print your wordle and stick it into your homework book. Dont forget to use the spelling rule to create a border
